I installed this fan in the middle of my van right where I sit and over my bed. I often run it all night in hot weather. I like that it is reversable. I usually reverse it and have it blow air into the van. Sometimes when I’m cooking I have it blow air out of the van. I also installed a cover over the top on the outside so I don’t have to worry about rain. I leave it open all the time even in the rain. Don’t do that if you don’t have a cover because you will get wet. After a year of constant use the only problem I’m having is that the lowest setting is starting to get a little noisy. I just set it on the second to lowest setting most of the time and its still quiet. I love the built in screen. It’s keeps the bugs out.

Unless this conks out on me early, as of now I am a very happy camper. For install had to adjust the position of crank by relocating (just relocated screw positions holding crank to the left setting) so it would align with existing bracket. Wiring was a breeze and mounted with a very clean looking and close fit. Really made a great looking appearance difference compared to stock fan, and looks so much better. Yes light coming in is reduced a bit but that is OK.

Have really seen a difference in air flow with the 3 air out positions, and also use the 2 air in positions to draw in cool air in the evenings. Just works great to move hot air out or cool air in. Also, put some sealant tape over the control board that is exposed on top of roof but under cover, just to help protect from moisture. While on roof for that went ahead and wire tied the wires to frame and greased the up/down slide. There was a little vibration in the unit at first but went back and snugged up the screws making sure all was aligned and tight so now there is zero vibration even on high. Of all the little additions/mods so far this is my best RV improvement!

Best RV Vent Fan And Cover Buying Guide

RVing enthusiasts have a wide range of ideas about what could be called the best RV vent fan and cover.

That being said, if you want to make a wise investment then you should keep the criteria down below in mind

RV Vent Fan

rv vent fan reviews

Flow Rate

Usually measured in CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute), the flow rate of vent fans dictates the amount of air that could be moved over time.

To deduce the ideal flow rate for your vent fan, it’s important that you think about the volume of the interior of your rig.

If you happen to own a small RV, feel free to settle for standard models. On the other hand, in the case that you own a rig with a spacious interior, prioritize high CFM fans.

Noise level

All in all, the last thing you want to spend your money on is an excessive loud vent fan that disturbs everyone in its vicinity.

That is why it’s suggested that you pay attention to noise level as you assess models on the market.

Since the official decibel ratings listed on the labels of fans may be deceptive, you should take a look at reviews written by fellow RVers to reach an objective conclusion.

Avoid committing to a purchase until you know for sure that the model you like packs a tolerable noise level.

Power Consumption

To operate as designed, vent fans need to be consistently supplied with enough electricity so power consumption naturally requires consideration.

Owning strong vent fans means little if the battery bank on your recreational vehicle is incapable of powering them adequately.

As a result, it’s a good idea to take the capacity of your batteries into account to judge the suitability of particular vent fans. That is going to help you reduce the number of models that make it to your shortlist and save time.

Ease Of Installation

As an RVer, you likely have many tasks that must be dealt with so you don’t need complicated vent fans with draw-out installations.

Because of that, it’s widely advised that you give ease of installation some thoughts before making up your mind.

By reading the owner’s manual of a model, you would gain key details about the complexity of its setup process which lets you determine if you could handle it.

Of course, you always have the option of hiring someone to take care of the fan installation in your place.

Price

RVing often involves an assortment of expenses, thus, you have to be thorough regarding price.

Overall, unless you have certain demands, there is no need to empty your wallet on expensive premium-grade vent fans.

That being said, you should also steer clear of models with unbelievably cheap price tags.

While buying such fans allows you to save some bucks in the short term, they rarely last long and soon you have to seek replacements.

RV Vent Fan Cover

Ruggedness

RVing enthusiasts rely on the fan covers to protect the vent fans from various elements in the outdoors so ruggedness tends to be deemed as one of the top concerns.

To see how well the cover that you like holds together in use, you have to closely inspect its material, design, layout and so on.

If you notice signs that suggest easily-compromised structural integrity, move on to other models.

Compatibility

Nowadays, vent fans for recreational vehicles come in all kinds and the same could be said about the fan covers.

Hence, it’s crucial that you don’t underestimate the issue of compatibility as you buy covers for your fans.

A lot of market fan covers can work with vent fans from more than one manufacturer.

Still, to be on the safe side, you should check out the compatibility list of models and decide accordingly.

Size And Shape

By putting covers on the vent fans, you would increase the maximum height of your rig which may lead to clearance problems if you fail to make proper size calculations.

The shape of the fan covers themselves could cause several troubles relating to drag and the fuel economy as well.

Because of that, it’s imperative that you spare time to evaluate the size and shape of fan covers instead of buying on a whim.

Popular Brands Of Vent Fans And Covers

All things considered, if you happen to come across vent fans and covers that match your needs, you could buy them without having to worry too much about their manufacturer.

Nonetheless, if you seek good buys, keep an eye out for models from these brands:
